✦ Synopsis
High-quality platelet a-MoO 3 single crystals with dimensions of $ 1000 Â 200 Â 0.4 mm 3 have been grown on Si(1 0 0) substrates in quartz tube reactor in air atmosphere by sublimation of molybdenum oxide at T¼ 660 1C. Phase composition of grown crystals has been identified by X-ray single crystal structure analysis in space group Pnma, a ¼ 13.8674(7) Å, b ¼3.6976(2) Å, c ¼ 3.9644(2) Å, Z¼ 4 (R ¼ 0.0154). Polarized Raman microspectrometry has been used to describe the symmetry of vibration modes of a-MoO 3 Raman spectrum. Several Raman lines as narrow as $ 2 cm À 1 have been measured for a-MoO 3 crystal.
