A recent paper 1 has reported a difference in response to aircraft noise between the community living around Hong Kong International Airport and that living around Heathrow Airport in the UK. The difference has been ascribed to a different sensitivity of" Chinese in Hong Kong to aircraJt noise. This

β¦ Synopsis
A social study was undertaken of the subjective responses to aircraft noise of 909
Chinese in Hong Kong. The study population lil'es near, or adjacent to, the flight-paths of aircraft landing at, or taking off from, the international airport of Kai Tak. The subjective responses of the Chinese correlate well with the Noise and Number Index. Comparisons of the responses of the Chinese group with those of teachers and firemen in the city and with Londoners have been attempted.

To investigate human cortical responses that correspond to subjective preference of sound fields, an attempt is made here to analyze the autocorrelation function (ACF) of magnetoencephalography (MEG) under the condition of varying delay time of single reflections. According to previous studies, it i
of a variety of tasks. However, it would appear that this form of display demands more of the operator's attention than other forms of indication. Finally it is pointed out that a number of additional problems relating to numerical displays are in need of investigation. 1.3.53(54004) Smith, F., Lott
