✦ Synopsis

This report describes an unusual complication of ERCP in a patient with common bile duct stones and cholangitis. During the procedure, endoscopic sphincterotomy was successfully performed over a wire with clearance of several stones and insertion of a pigtail stent. Over the following 12 hours, the patient had significant right-sided upper quadrant and pleuritic pain. CT demonstrated a subcapsular hepatic hematoma that was successfully managed conservatively.
