โœฆ Synopsis

Al~tract--The effect of pore dimensions of silica gel grains on the peroxide initiated styrene polymerization was investigated. The observed changes in shape of conversion curves and rate of polymerization are interpreted as due to decrease of the rate of recombination of macroradicals separated by the walls of grains pores, accelerated decomposition of peroxide in cavities of submicrondiameters and ionic polymerization in the smallest pores of 10 nm diameter. The resulting course of polymerization shows influences of silica gel structure on all elementary polymerization steps, depending on size of pores.
