Abstract

In this paper, for the first time (to our knowledge) the characteristics of a filter based on cascaded high‐birefringence fiber (HBF) loop mirrors are described. The characteristics of the filter are analyzed theoretically and an expression of the output intensity is given. The experimental results conform well with our theory. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract An optical current sensor based on a metal coated Hi‐Bi fiber loop mirror is reported. This current sensor quantifies the current through the measurement of the temperature which varies accordingly with the magnitude of the electrical current. The temperature change is analyzed through
