β¦ Synopsis
The vacuum-W spectrum of a krypton supersonic jet excited by an electron beam was studied. Three continua with intensity maxima at A = 1250 A. 1480 A and 2260 A were observed in the spectral region 1100-2300 A. Two of them at A = 1250 R and 2260 A originate mainly in the electron bombarded atomic matrix of the jet. The source of the 1480 A continuum is the cathodoluminescence of heavy clusters. droplets and microcrystals existing in the krypton jet at sufficiently low temperatures. The emission observed in the vicinity of the krypton resonance lines is tentatively identified.
