✦ Synopsis

Attenuation measurements in neutron-irradiated quartz after heat treatment at 840°C show a maximum around 10 K. This indicates that the distribution of the parameters 6 and A of the tunneling model changes after annealing. We present a modified model, with a restricted distribution for the parameter A, which is able to describe the data quantitatively.
