✦ Synopsis
Comparison of the "C and "N NMR spectra of 8-azatheophylline with those of its three methylated derivatives and other model compounds from the literature showed that 8-azatheophylline exists to the extent of 80% in the N-2 tautomeric form in DMSO solution.

The tautomerism and isomerism of triazoles make the structure analysis of such compounds a difficult problem, and in the case of several nitrotriazoles a detailed structure assignment had been lacking up to now. It is shown that both I3C and ''N NMR measurements provide similar estimates of the position of the prototropic equilibrium exhibited by 2-hydroxy-3-methylindazole in three solvents. The "N NMR study of the pyridine and pyrrole types of nitrogen atoms provided the most quantitatively reliable result

## Abstract ^15^N and ^13^C chemical shifts and the ^1^__J__(^15^N^15^N), ^1^__J__(^15^N^13^C) and ^1^__J__(^13^CH) coupling constants have been determined for a number of ^15^N‐enriched cyclic and acyclic secondary nitramines. The results are interpreted in terms of both electronegativity effects
