In a previous study 1 in which thin-layer electrochemical techniques were employed it was shown that PtC12-is reduced to PtC12-at platinum electrodes in 1 F chloride supporting electrolyte and to the metal in 1 F sodium perchlorate (eqns. 1 and 2).
