β¦ Synopsis
We have performed ultrasonic measurements on the filled skutterudite compound La substitution system Pr x La 1Γx Fe 4 P 12 for x ΒΌ 0:95. An abrupt decrease was observed below T c ΒΌ 1:1 K in the temperature dependence of elastic constants (C 11 -C 12 )=2 and C 44 . Besides, a pronounced dip was observed in their elastic constants around 5 K. This dip can be explained reasonably by a pseudo quartet ground state:
