We have investigated combustion characteristics of lean gasoline-air pre-mixture ignited by diesel fuel injection using a high compression direct injection diesel engine. Gasoline was supplied as a uniform lean mixture by using carburetors, and diesel fuel was directly injected into the cylinder. It
