Abstract
The freeโradical copolymerization of Nโisopropylacrylamide and 2โacrylamidoโ2โmethylโ1โpropanesulphonic acid at varying comonomer mole ratios was studied at 70ยฐC. The extent of conversion was determined as a function of time and comonomer mixture composition, and copolymer compositions were determined using elemental analysis and ^13^C NMR spectroscopy. Monomer reactivity ratios were evaluated for low conversions using KelenโTรผdos and FinemanโRoss methods. The copolymers were characterized using ^13^C and ^1^H NMR spectra, FTIR spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. ยฉ 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 88: 2563โ2569, 2003
