✦ Synopsis

A new type of electromagnetic valve used for adjusting cryogenic temperatures and mass flows has been developed. A permanent magnet provides the field and the continuous adjustment is achieved by moving an electric coil together with its connected valve pin. The performance of the valve was measured in liquid nitrogen and liquid helium. In this paper, the structure of the valve is described and measured results are reported.
