Abstract

^29^Si^1^H coupling constants across two and three bonds in silatranes and model triethoxysilanes were measured from ^1^H spectra by multiple quantum NMR. There was an increase in the ^29^SiOCH coupling in the equatorial position and a decrease in that in the axial position of the silicon trigonal bipyramid compared with the tetracoordinated silicon.

The technique of multiple-quantum J-resolved NMR spectroscopy (MQ-JRES) is introduced and applied to the spin system SI 3 -M (such as in the example given here, the 13 CH 3 -12 CH in alanine). The SI 3 spin system was excited to its highest quantum state (8S y I x I y I y ), which consists of four c

The results for the residual dipolar interactions were verified by repeating the above measurements at a temperature of 1.5°C, where the spectra of the H 2 O molecules were well resolved, so that the 1 H-1 H dipolar interaction could be determined directly from the observed splitt

The interaction of caffeine and theophylline with sodium benzoate and sodium salicylate has been studied in deuterium oxide at 35°C by measnring the aromatic salt-induced changes in the chemical shifts of the N-methyl protons. Taking into account the self-association of the N-methylxanthines, on the
