✦ Synopsis

Abstracts of c.a.d. literature Architecture Bijl, A. 76.1 'Government funding of CAAD research' Bulletin of Comput. Aided Archit. Des. No 18 (June 1975)

Research in the building industry and in CAAD in the UK was poorly supported before the present economic recession and is in a vulnerable state. Practical benefits tend to be directed at particular user organizations and substantial further effort is required before benefits can be offered to industry. There is a need for development effort on research results which are directed at practical application.

The prospect of commercial software houses offering great practical benefits from CAAD is limited.

The work of Edinburgh CAAD Studies is offered as an example of the types of problems facing research groups within universities.
