✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The hypothesis that anatomically distinct endocrine centers control the production of urea and ammonia in the earthworm has been examined.
This hypothesis is not supported by the present data.
Ammonia output is markedly increased by a high protein diet, while the urea output is reduced by digestible carbohydrates.
