Abstract

The distribution of Cu and Ag concentration in the conductive channel of bistable AgCu~2~OAg switching devices was investigated with the electron beam micro‐probe. A quasi‐metallic channel centre (Cu content >92 weight‐%) can be distinguished from the remaining channel (Cu deficiency, Cu~x~O, x < 2). A precipitation of electrode material was established in the switching channel. The switching devices are withstanding up to maximum of 10^4^ switching cycles. The reasons for this limited “life” are given.

## Abstract The frequency distribution of the threshold voltage of AgCu~2~OAg switching devices was experimentally established. With a few switching cycles (__n__ ≲ 150) distribution can be interpreted by a numerical Gauss distribution. Only a single, from electrode to electrode uninterrupted, ch
