✦ Synopsis

Conditions are reported for labeling amino acids with "Cdansyl chloride. The technique has been used for the quantitative estimation of some amino acids present in amounts of optic nerve tissue as small as 0.1 mg. The results are very similar to those obtained with the amino acid autoanalyzer.

Optic nerve segments can synthesize amino acids when incubated in vitro with radioactive glucose.
