✦ Synopsis

The manganese dioxides prepared by chlorate oxidation of Mn(II) salts [EIecrrockim. Acra 28, 309 (1983)] are further characterized by magnetic susceptibility measurements and differential thermal analysis. An attempt is made to correlate the changes in physicochemical parameters such as crystal lattice parameters, ir absorption frequency mining, peak decomposition temperature for the MnOl + Mn,O, transformation, magnetic susceptibilities and surface areas, with the changes in catalytic and electrochemical activity of the manganese dioxides.
