โฆ Synopsis
The synthesis of 1: 1 and 1:2 chelates of cadmium with nitrilotriacetic acid is reported. The 1: 1 chelate, in the acid form, is readily converfxd into ita 1:2 counterpart. Structural information on the chelates may be obtained from infrared spectroscopy, the carbowl stretching vibrations being e3pecially sensitive to bonding type_ The sodium salt of the 1: 1 chelate undergoes decomposition at the pH of human gastric juice.
