✦ Synopsis
Since 1953, Mr. N . TEBBLE of the British Museum (N . H .) is conducting an investigation on a tubed marine worm, Merceriella enigmatica, that threatened to become a nuisance to Weymouth Harbour structures (cf. TEBBLE, 1953). In order to collect data about conditions of development and more precisely spawning of the foresaid worm, series of plankton samples were taken in the harbour waters, from April till end of August, 1953 . Mr . TEBBLE kindly asked me to study the Rotifers that possibly might occur in these samples in connection with the spawning temperatures ; the problem was, whether the presence of a given species Rotifer could be used as an indication relating to the occurrence of the trochophorous larva of Merceriella . * Synchaeta vorax Polyarthra dolichoptera * Polyarthra remata * Polyarthra vulgaris . * Brachionus angularis . * Brachionus calyciflorus . * Brachionus urceolaris.
