✦ Synopsis
The V-T/R overall relaxation rates of some polyatomic molecules were measured by means of a thermal lens. It is found that the rates -are rather fast for C2Cl3F3 and CHsOH (196 ms-' Torr-' 2 25% and 206 ms-' Torr-' 2 25% respectively). but slower for CClsFa (21.4 ms-' Torr-' k 15%). When CCIsFl collided with He, Ne and Ar, the measured relaxation rates are in agreement with the predictions of SSH theory_
