โฆ Synopsis
~xine fouling and boring off Kodiak Island, Alaska, was s~udied at deptJas of 5, 15, and 30 m by eIposing wood, asbestos te~ panels and r~trioving them at monthly and cumulatively longer intervals. Fouling was moderate between June and Ootober and negli~%le between November and May. The fouling oommunitie~ at 15 and 30 m were quite dissimilar, probably due to a large surface-to-bottom salinity gradient. The com-munRy at the 30 m level was dominated by Ba/anu~ cr~ and P~adochitlnolxnna occidvn~is, that at ~5 m by A/cyon/diura polyoum and Obdia borecd~s. At r 5 m deep, piersido site, the most oOmmon orgallig~ W~re B. crenatus, O. boreaJis and Dearaavyst/~ sanda//a. Borer attack was a ia-ace at 5 and 15 m and slightly more severe at 30 m.
