Diacetylenic dehydrobenzo [12]annulene and dehydrobenzo [18]annulene derivatives with electron-donor and -acceptor groups were synthesized (including push-pull Eglinton-Galbraith dimer derivative 1c) via an oxidative coupling reaction, and spectroscopically and structurally characterized. The solid-
