and vacuum distillation of others, the following substances were isolated : A phytosterol, a phytosterolin, glucose, pentatriacontane, palmitic acid, an acid of phenolic character, melting at ~88-I89 °, butyric, valeric, and caproic acids, a small quantity of a phenolic substance, dipentene, an oxygenated compound, boiling at eoo-22o °, and an optically active, dicyclic sesquiterpene. The presence of a product, boiling at 3oo-35o °, consisting of diterpenes and a small quantity of a phenolic substance, was indicated.
