✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Carbon‐13 NMR chemical shifts and ^1^J(CH), ^2^J(CH) and ^3^J(CH) coupling constants of selected saturated nitrogen heterocyclic molecules containing the acetylenic moiety have been determined. These NMR parameters have also been determined for the corresponding N‐oxides and the Meisenheimer rearrangement products, the O‐allenylhydroxylamines. The effect of the N‐oxidation on the chemical shifts of the ring and the acetylenic carbon atoms is discussed.

## Abstract The carbon‐13 NMR spectra of some __N__‐(2‐ or 4‐nitrophenyl) tertiary amines and their corresponding __N__‐oxides have been analysed. These __N__‐oxides undergo thermal rearrangement to __O__‐arylhydroxylamines, for which the ^13^C NMR spectral assignments were also carried out. The __
