✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Some 2‐amino‐5‐aryl‐I,3,4‐oxadiazoles have been condensed with acetylsulfanilyl chloride, and 2‐(N^4^‐acetylsulfanilamido)‐5‐aryl‐I,3,4‐oxadiazoles thus obtained have been hydrolysed to provide the corresponding 2‐sulfanilamido‐I,3,4‐oxadiazoles. The latter have been condensed with phthalic and succinic anhydrides to yield 2‐[N^4^‐(o‐carboxybenzoyl])‐ and 2‐[N^4^‐(carboxyethylcarbonyl) sulfanilamido]‐I,3,4‐oxadiazoles, respectively. Three of these compounds were found to possess significant fungicidal activity against A. niger and A. flavus.
