An Apache renegade named Yuyutsu raided freely across Arizona, New Mexico, and Old Mexico, plundering and killing as he went. But as usual, when the fighting went hard on the Apaches, they simply faded away. When the leadership of Sergeant Matt Stryker came to the attention of General George Washington Hunter, commander in chief of the Army of the Southwest, Hunter ordered Stryker to form a unit that could out Apache the Apaches themselves. Matt found men among the Buffalo Soldiers. He found ex-Confederates. He found Texas cowboys, plus two new Apache scouts, Bly of the White Mountains, and Dahtegte, the warrior woman. Together, they stood up to Yuyutsu, and for a bunch of misfits, they fought pretty damn' well.
