N e u aspects of structure-activity relationships of auxins were fourid IJY thecreticrrl investigations of conforrnotions and molecular rlectrostatzc potentials. The conformution of an aclice compound i s chroncterizerl by the formation of an intrumolecular hydrogpn bond between the side-chain and the n-electronic systeni of the ring part. The molecular electrostatic potentials of active niolecules possess a characteristic structure different from that of inactive conipounds. Euen the explnnrction of the different behaviour irk auxin action of optically tcctive compozmds is possible. The results allow the qualitative explanation of structurp-activity relationships of a lot of active and inactice molecules.
