## Abstract Well shaped crystals of Cr~2~(SO~4~)~3~ and Al~2~(SO~4~)~3~ could be prepared by chemical transport reactions using HCl (Cr~2~(SO~4~)~3~) or SOCl~2~ (Al~2~(SO~4~)~3~) as transport agent. Cr~2~(SO~4~)~3~ and Al~2~(SO~4~)~3~ are isostructural to the rhombohedral modification of Fe~2~(SO~4
