✦ Synopsis
Ten di-n-butyltin (IV) carboxylates [("Bu$n-OCOR'),O/, and nBu$n(OCOR'), (R' = CC13 CHCI, CH2Cl, PhCH = CH, and 2,2,3,3-tetramethylcyclopropyl) were synthesized and characterized by IR, 'H, I3C, Il9Sn NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Together with other series of organotin(IV) carboxylates, their structural features were discussed. The relationship between the Il9Sn NMR chemical shifts in the organotin(IV) carboxylates [~Bu2SnOC0R'),O/, "Bu$n(OCOR'), "Bu,SnOCOR', Ph$nOCOR' and the pKa values of their parent acids R'COOH was studied. The results have shown that the l ~g [ -t i ( ~~~S n ) ] of the same series of carboxylates is linearly related to the pKa of R'COOH. It seems that the better is the linearity between the 10g ] and the pK, the more analogous are the structures of the same series of carboxylates.
