โฆ Synopsis
possibility to obtain ultra high molecular weight poly(ethylene oxide) (UHMWPEO) hydrogels by means of swelling samples which has been gamma irradiated in bulk is presented. A separation of the three fractions which had been already called macronetwork, micronelworks and sol-fraction promoted by the water influence is observed. The crystalline structure after swelling and drying is discussed as well as the cell structure of the gels. The effect of the absorbed dose value on the structure and properties of the dry products is studied by means of optical and scanning electron microscopy.
