The title compound [alternatively called (__E__)-3-phenylprop-2-enal azine], C~18~H~16~N~2~, was synthesized by the reaction of hydrocinnamaldehyde with hydrazine hydrate. The nearly planar molecule is centrosymmetric, with the mid-point of the Nβ€”N bond lying at an inversion center.
