In the title compound, C 13 H 12 N 4 OS 2 , the central oxadiazole ring makes dihedral angles of 8.9 (2) and 89.6 (3) with the benzene and thiadiazole rings, respectively.
Two new chalcones of general type (2E)-1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-R-phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one are reported, one where R = methyl, C 16 H 14 O 2 , in the present paper, and one where R = chloro, C 15 H 11 ClO 2 , in the following paper [Butcher, Jasinski, Narayana, Lakshmana & Yathirajan (2007). In the title compound, C 10 H 9 ClN 2 O, the benzene and oxadiazole rings are roughly coplanar. The crystal packing shows weak intermolecular C-Hร ร รN interactions.
The molecule of the title compound, C 17 H 13 F 3 N 4 OS, assumes a planar conformation except for the F atoms and methyl H atoms. Intermolecular N-Hร ร รN hydrogen bonding between the urea and thiadiazole groups links neighbouring molecules into centrosymmetric supramolecular R 2 2 (8) dimers. The
