โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A shouldered hard sphere interatomic potential is used to evaluate, within the mean spherical approximation, the experimental structure factors of 13 liquid metals. For 10 metals, a positive shoulder of the potential is more appropriate than a square well potential. A parabolic well potential is also tried and in many cases a repulsive tail is obtained. The isothermal compressibility and the electrical resistivity for some metals are calculated. A good agreement with experimental values is achieved, especially when an electronic contribution is introduced for the compressibility.

We present a theoretical formula and calculations of the dynamic structure factor of expanded liquid metals on basis of pseudopotential theory and the OCP approximation for degenerate electrons and classic ions. The reasonable agreement with experiment in liquid Rb is shown.
