Abstract
Two novel casbane diterpenes 1βhydroxyβ(2__E__,6__Z__,12__E__)βcasbaβ2,6,12βtrieneβ4,5βdione (1) and 6__E__,12__E__βcasbaβ1,3,6,12βtetraenβ1,4βepoxyβ5βone (2) were isolated from the ethanol extract of the stems of Croton argyrophyllus. Structural characterization including the relative stereochemistry of all compounds was established on the basis of spectroscopic methods, mainly 1D and 2D NMR, and HRESIMS. The known diterpenes junceic acid (1) and the stress metabolite derivatives 2Γ4 were isolated from the hexane extracts of the roots of Croton sarcopetalus Muell. The complete 13C NMR chemical shift assignments of these compounds were achieved with the aid of DEPT and HETCOR experiments.
