β¦ Synopsis
Polarization-dependent surface-extended X-ray-absorption fine-structure studies on the Ni( 1 lo)-c( 2 X2)-Hz0 system show that water absorbs via the 0 atom in atop sites with a nearest-neigbour 0-Ni bond length of 2.06 f 0.03 A. Corresponding nearedge absorption data suggest that the H-O-H plane is inclined to the surface normal.
