✦ Synopsis
The determination of the structure of 1-acetyl-octahydroindole-2carbonitrile by NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and computerized conformational analysis is described.
We have prepared 1-acetyl-octahydroindole-2-carbonitrile (2) by acetamidomercuration of cyclohexene, followed by reductive coupling of the mercurial with a-chloroacrylonitrile and rinq closure under basic conditions
