The theory of hydrodynamic and thermodiffusional stability of flames is reviewed including the stability of spherical flames. The convex form of the flame propagating in a tube in the absence of gravity is found to be a manifestation of the Landau hydrodynamic instability. The development of small wavelength perturbations on the convex flame in a tube is much more difficult than on a plane flame. The convex flame is stable at moderately large Reynolds numbers. of his death.
