✦ Synopsis

A comprehensive kinetic study of the 2-vinylpyridine living polymerization initiated by lithium derivatives in hydrocarbon solvents was carried out. Rate constants of propagation and thermodynamic parameters were determined and discussed in relation to the structure of the propagating species. I3C NMR spectrometric measurements performed on a model molecule of the living ends corroborate the conclusions derived from the values of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters.

Copolymerization of binary mixtures of alkyl (meth)acrylates has been initiated in toluene by a mixed complex of lithium silanolate O(s-BuMe 2 SiOLi)O and s-BuLi (molar ratio Ͼ 21) formed in situ by reaction of s-BuLi with hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D 3 ). Fully acrylate and methacrylate copolymers
