โฆ Synopsis
Structural and magnetic properties of Fe/Ge multilayer grown on Si (1 0 0) substrate have been investigated by neutron reflectometry at room temperature. Unpolarized neutron reflectometry has been analyzed to obtain the chemical structure of the multilayers. Magnetic moment of Fe, which is one of the fundamental quantities to study the magnetic properties further, has been investigated by polarized neutron reflectometry at room temperature. The results show that there is substantial reduction in magnetic moment of Fe at interfaces as well as inside the layer. The magnetic moment of Fe in the layer is 1.30 m B (bulk value 2.20 m B ). The magnetic moment of Fe at Fe/Ge and Ge/Fe interfaces are 1.08 and 0.81 m B , respectively.
