โฆ Synopsis
Three new protoilludane sesquiterpenes, plorantinone A, B and C (1, 2a and 3), were isolated from injured fruit bodies of the Basidiomycete Russula delica, presumably formed from stearoylplorantinone B (2b) which was isolated from intact fruit bodies. The isolation and structure elucidation including the determination of the absolute configuration of the four compounds is reported.

We had previously reported' the isolation of a new sesquiterpene lactone, plenolin, from Raileya pleniradiata Harv. and Gray in 0.0003% yield. Too little plenolin was obtained to permit detailed chemical investigation although the structure I was tentatively assigned on
Four novel sesquiterpenes of protoilludane origin, divaricatines A 3a and B 3b, 7-epitsugicoline H 4a and tsugicoline M 5a have been isolated from agar cultures of the fungus Clavicorona divaricata (Basidiomycetes). Their structures were elucidated by means of NMR studies and chemical correlations.
