✦ Synopsis
Structural web molding has much to offer our industry by augmenting the structural foam process while at the same time creating new applications for structural plastic products. With future trends towards dwindling resources and ever increasing energy and labor costs, this new technology has the ability to meet these challenges head on; by reducing finishing costs, molding lighter weight parts without sacrificing performance and increasing productivity with shorter cycle times.
Product development programs are just beginning, with specific goals for determining detailed knowledge of process conditions and cost data. In the near future, we hope to report on the first commercial application of the structural web process.
