✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The chiral (π‐allyl)Pd(II) complex [Pd(η^3^CH~3~CHCHCH~2~)(S, S‐Chiraphos)]CF~3~SO~3~ was shown to exist in four isomeric forms (two diastereomeric and two geometric). Aspects of their three‐dimensional structures were elucidated using ^1^H, ^13^C and ^31^P one‐ and two‐dimensional NMR methods. The assignment of the diastereomers, which differ with respect to the coordinated face of the allyl ligand, was achieved using ^1^H‐NOESY methods.

Complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments of several aryl-substituted p-allyl-Pd(II) complexes were achieved using modern gradient-based 1D and 2D experiments. In addition, unambiguous 31P assignments were readily made using an improved gradient-enhanced 1H-31P HMBC experiment from which the regiochemistr
