The structure of the saccharide part of the lipopolysaccharide from Haemophilus influenzae strain AHl-3 (lic3 +) has been investigated. The saccharide was obtained from the lipopolysaccharide by mild acid hydrolysis followed by high-performance anion-exchange chromatography, and isolated fractions were studied by methylation analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and FAB mass spectrometry.
