The Cu-doped layered cobalt sulfides, BaCo 1؊x Cu x S 2؊x/2 and BaCo 1؊x Cu x S 2 , have been synthesized with the single-phase region 04x40.5. Both series are semiconducting. The resistivity of BaCo 1؊x Cu x S 2 decreases drastically with increasing Cu content. Increasing sulfur content has a simil
