✦ Synopsis

The 1450 nm band ofwater, usually assigned to vI + vj (Y, is the symmetric stretching and vg the asymmetric stretching mode), has been measured in aqueous methanol, ethanol and Zpropanol solutions as a function of alcohol concentration over the entire cosolvent mole fraction region. For all systems investigated, the near-infrared absorption coefftcient exhibits an anomalous behaviour which occurs in the water-rich region (mole fraction of cosolvent xr < 0.1) and shows, for each alcohol, the existence of a solvent composition, XT, for which there is a change in the nature of the interactions in solution.

## Abstract A novel class of polytopic hydrazone‐based ligands was synthesized. They gave heteroleptic Ru^II^ polynuclear rack‐like complexes of formula [Ru~__n__~terpy~__n__~(bridging molecular strand)]^2__n__+^ (terpy=2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine). The new rack‐like systems can be viewed as being made
