β¦ Synopsis
The structure of the n ΒΌ 4 Aurivillius oxide BaBi 4 Ti 4 O 15 has been studied at room temperature using powder neutron diffraction, and from 300 to 1000 K using synchrotron X-ray diffraction methods. The structure is orthorhombic (space group A2 1 am) at 300 K and transforms to a tetragonal (I4/mmm) structure near 700 K.

Rietveld refinement of powder neutron diffraction data has been used to study the crystal structures of the four-layer Aurivillius-phase ferroelectrics Bi 5 Ti 3 FeO 15 (at 251C) and SrBi 4 Ti 4 O 15 (at a series of temperatures up to 8001C). At 251C both materials adopt the polar orthorhombic space
The relaxor ferroelectric Pb 2 Bi 4 Ti 5 O 18 has been studied by Rietveld refinement of powder neutron diffraction data collected at temperatures of 100, 250 and 400 1C. Our refinements are compatible with the 'average' crystal structure of Pb 2 Bi 4 Ti 5 O 18 undergoing the phase transition sequen
