Structural analysis of the specific capsular polysaccharide produced by Rhodococcus equi serotype 7 indicated it to be a high-molecular-weight polymer consisting of equal molar amounts of D-galactose, D-mannose, L-rhamnose, and pyruvic acid. By employing a combination of chemical and NMR techniques,

✦ Synopsis
The capsule of Bacteroides fragilis (ATCC23745) consists of two distinct polysaccharides, the separation of which could not be accomplished. The mouse-passaged strain (23745M1), however, yielded a preponderant polysaccharide which was isolated and purified. Using mainly high resolution NMR spectroscopy, the structure of the polysaccharide was elucidated and it is composed of the following repeating unit: [formula see text]

The structure of the capsular polysaccharide from the Klebsiella K8 reference strain 1015 has been elucidated. The structure was deduced from sugar analysis, different methylation analyses, a uronic acid degradation, and NMR spectroscopy. It is concluded that the polysaccharide is composed of pentas
Although some Lactobacilfus strains are reported to produce extracellular poly-saccharidesi4, nothing is known of their structure. We recently isolated a capsular polysaccharide-producing Lactobacillus kejiranofaciens from kefir grain?'. The polysaccharide extracted from kefir grains was named kefir
