✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A layered perovskite related compound with the Sr~4~CoTaO~8~ composition was isolated. This material constitutes the n = 1 member of the recently reported [Sr~n+1~(Co~0.5~Ta~0.5~)__~n~O~3__n+1~] Ruddlesden–Popper series. XRPD, SAED and HREM reveal that this compound crystallizes as a K~2~NiF~4~‐type with space group __I__4/mmm. The structure is formed by one Sr~2~CoTaO~6~ perovskite block that intergrows with one SrO rock salt layer; no ordering between the Co and Ta cations was established. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
